Examination Rules and Policies

About TRECCERT Examination

TRECCERT provides Essentials, Foundation, Professional and Lead certifications that are awarded to individuals who complete successfully the related certification exam as the only or initial certification requirement.

TRECCERT exams aim to gather objective evidence that an individual has the required competence defined in the certification scheme. The depth, length and content of the TRECCERT exams are an outcome of the certification scheme development process.

TRECCERT exam items consist of the stem (question) and four alternatives (1 correct answer and 3 incorrect answers).

Note: Completion of a particular training course is not a prerequisite for taking a TRECCERT exam. Candidates can use various methods to prepare, including third-party training and self-study, as long as they are aligned with and reference the requirements of relevant standards.

Exam Eligibility

Individuals interested to take a TRECCERT certification must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of application.
  2. Be able to present a valid form of identification (e.g., ID, passport, driving license).
  3. Have checked and understood the certification requirements of the chosen credential.

Examination Process

Before you register for a TRECCERT certification exam, you are required to choose one of the following examination options:

Option 1 - TRECCERT Partner

Individuals can take the TRECCERT certification exam as part of a training session that is provided by TRECCERT approved partners. Please click here to select and contact the most suitable provider based on your location and language.

Option 2 - TRECCERT

Individuals can take the TRECCERT certification exam without attending a training session. Completion of a particular training course is not a prerequisite for taking a TRECCERT exam. 

Individuals can prepare for the exam at their own pace and by using their resources. TRECCERT also provides Candidate Examination Handbooks for interested candidates (i.e ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer Candidate Examination Handbook; ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor Candidate Examination Handbook).

Note: Both examination options are organized and administered by TRECCERT and its exam administration and proctoring providers.

Step 1 - Register for the Exam

To register for a TRECCERT exam, examinees are required to fill out and submit the Exam Application Form  to examination@treccert.com. The form is provided by the TRECCERT Examination Department representative via email.

The form collects information on personal data (necessary), exam, accommodation for special needs and provides a declaration with regards to the confidentiality and security of the exam content.

In case of any accommodation request, please fill out and submit the form at least eight (8) weeks in advance.

Step 2 - Schedule the Exam

TRECCERT exams can be scheduled and taken within one (1) month at an examinee’s convenience.

TRECCERT Examination Department representative informs examinees on the exam credentials, exam window (start and end date) and related instructions. Examinees are recommended to schedule the exam upon receiving the credentials in order to reserve their spot.

Step 3 - Take the Exam

Examinees must read, agree and follow the provided rules and instructions before, during and after the examination to ensure a smooth experience.

Step 4 - Receive the Exam Results

TRECCERT Examination Department representative provides the exam results to examinees within a week from the exam date.

Upon successful completion of the Professional or Lead exam, candidates will receive the Certification Application and Experience Verification forms, which shall be filled out and submitted to certification@treccert.com. Please click here to learn more about the certification process.

Exam Security Policy

TRECCERT examinations are managed by the TRECCERT Examination Department and its administration and proctoring providers (Gauge and ProctorU).

TRECCERT has established processes and related documents to ensure that every examinee gets the same chance to demonstrate their knowledge on the exam day without anyone gaining an unfair advantage.

Exam Retake Policy

TRECCERT offers to candidates only one (1) exam retake opportunity, after failing on the first try. The exam retake opportunity is available for one (1) year, counting from the day that the candidate first takes the exam.

Candidates for Essential and Foundation level exams can retake the exam after 30 days of the first attempt without any extra fee for the exam retake.

Candidates for Professional and Lead level exams can retake the exam after 90 days of the first attempt. They shall pay a fee of 99.00€ (EUR) in order to be eligible for the exam retake.

If examinees fail the retake exam or fail the exam again, they shall pay the full certification price in order to take the exam. Examinations found to be in violation of this policy will be invalidated and the candidate may be subject to a suspension period or denied/revoked certification.

 

Exam Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy

Examinees should contact in written the TRECCERT Examination Manager to reschedule an exam at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the exam appointment.

Examinees can cancel the exam on the platform or they can contact in written the TRECCERT Examination Manager, preferably at least twenty-four (24) hours before the exam is scheduled to 
commence.

For rescheduling Essential and Foundation level exams, candidates do not need to pay any extra fees. Whereas, for rescheduling Professional and Lead level exams, candidates shall pay a 99.00€ (EUR) fee.

Failure to appear for the exam as an appointment and failure to comply with this policy shall result in the forfeiture of the exam and other related fees (as applicable).

Note: The timeframe of twenty-four (24) hours is not (1) business day, it is twenty-four (24) hours prior to the scheduled exam start time.
