ISO 37301 Lead Implementer Certification Program

Overview

The ISO 37301 Lead Implementer certification is designed for professionals who have a more advanced understanding of the ISO 37301 requirements and guidelines and are responsible for implementing and managing Compliance Management Systems (CMS). This credential demonstrates a high level of competence in compliance management and serves as a validation of the skills needed to successfully implement a CMS based on the ISO 37301 standard.

To obtain any of the three credentials, candidates must not only pass the exam with a minimum score of 60% but also meet the following listed requirements:

CMS Fundamentals

Be acquainted with the basic terminology, concepts, and principles related to compliance and a Compliance Management System (CMS), and understand the purpose and benefits of a positive compliance culture.
Domain 2

CMS Requirements

Understand the core requirements to establish, implement, maintain and continually improve a Compliance Management System (CMS).

Domain 3

CMS Initiation and Planning

Initiate and plan a compliance management system (CMS) to demonstrate the need for essential policies and processes required to be implemented in order to prevent and reduce undesired effects.

Domain 4

CMS Implementation

Implement and operate a compliance management system (CMS) based on a risk assessment approach to produce deliverables in alignment with compliance requirements and objectives, and ensure stakeholders’ involvement and communication throughout the implementation cycle.
Domain 5

CMS Evaluation

Evaluate a compliance management system (CMS) performance and effectiveness through continuous monitoring and controlling of work performance against the CMS project charter parameters and reporting potential changes, and determine the need to apply corrective or preventive actions.
Domain 6

CMS Improvement

Maintain and improve the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of a (CMS) on a continuous basis by taking corrective and/or preventive actions.

Recertification

The ISO 37301 Lead Implementer certification program has a three-year recertification cycle. To retain certification beyond this period, candidates are required to fulfill specific requirements, including the payment of either an annual maintenance fee (AMF) or a triennial maintenance fee (TMF).

Moreover, a total of 90 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits are required to be accrued over the three year recertification cycle, with 30 CPE credits recommended for each year. The CPE credits earned are required to be related to the subject matter area of the certificate you hold. For ISO 37301 Lead Implementer, the CPE credits are required to be activities related to the following subject matter areas:

  2. Compliance

These obligations ensure that certified professionals remain up-to-date and proficient in relevant areas, thereby maintaining the program's high standards of expertise and knowledge retention.
